I strongly believe all students must be given the
opportunity to learn. Each child has the potential to bring uniqueness to this
world. Teachers have the responsibility to open the eyes of their students to a
world of possibilities through Education. Education should provide the necessary
skills for students to not only survive but thrive in life as well. Although
teaching facts is important, so is teaching analytical skills, people skills,
and character building.
Teachers have the responsibility to make
their students feel loved in a safe classroom environment in order to motivate
them to learn. It should be a place where students can feel welcomed and
comfortable enough to participate in activities and discussions. The classroom
should be a place where students can share ideas and learn through
collaboration. The teacher should be able to adapt concepts to different
children including low-ability, students with disabilities, ESL students, and
gifted and talented. Again, all students have right to education and a teacher
who believes in them.
At the beginning of the school year students should be greeted by their
names and should be encouraged to tell about him or herself. Children like to
talk about themselves, as does everyone, and they will thank the teacher for the
opportunity. If the students are comfortable around the teacher, they will be
more likely to obey her. Class rules should be established at the first of the
year and the children should help in the rule making process. Consistency is a
huge key in controlling the class because it tells the students that the
teacher "means business”.
I believe parents play a key role in the
education of their children and should be included in school activities and
classroom learning. Proper communication between parents and the teacher is an
absolute must and will aid in student success. Families should be encouraged to
share their culture and traditions with the class. The students will learn that
culture adds to each person’s uniqueness and that all cultures add to the
overall makeup of the classroom.
As a future educator, I have a passion for
learning and I believe it is necessary for me to continue my education and
training throughout life. I enjoy learning and want to share the same passion
with my students by making education interesting as well as
meaningful.
